I am happy to report our household goods have arrived. We received them on Wednesday and we haven't stopped unpacking. My calfs and back are aching!!!! I don't know how all of our stuff fit in the house in Gaertringen. Josie and Leo are having a blast with tearing apart any piece of paper that have fallen to the floor ~ unfortunately that creates more work for us. Today will be a nice break as we are heading to an engagment party in Vienna, VA.

Argh, I'm having a bad day!!!
Today started off ok, I went to visit my friends in Arlington and had a nice lunch. Then I got a phone call from Tim saying he was going to be home early and wanted to know if I could pick him up (he rides with a co-worker). No problem!!! As I get close to where I'm going to meet Tim (by the way I am an hour early) I get a phone call from the alarm company saying my motion detector in the basement is going off (I thought I bypassed it since the dogs are hanging out down there ~ clearly don't know what I am doing). Then as I'm hanging out waiting for Tim I get a phone call from my neighbor, Kathy, asking if my dog is on the front porch. My little girl got out of her new fenced yard and was waiting for me to let her in:( So, I gave Kathy the code for my garage and she coerced Josie into it. Tim was now due to arrive in 30 minutes but I was panicking about Leo, did he escape also??? he is terribly afraid of the doggy door so I don't think he escaped but I had to go home and see. So, I get home and have one frantic dog in the garage and another in the basement (Leo did not escape). As, I'm leaving to go get Tim the builder pulls up to tell me he rounded up Josie and put her in the back yard earlier ~ she is our little escape artist. After Tim and I got back home we put the dogs in the backyard and walked to the front ~ as we were walking the dogs joined us. Turns out Josie just needs to jump a little on the gate door and it pops open. Argh!!! So, we put a pad lock on it in hopes that it won't fly open. A day in a life!!!!

The "FENCE"
Wow, what a journey it took to get our fence. First, you have to get an estimate. Second, you have to submit it to the HOA. Then you wait and wait and wait. Since, we are not patient people we started knocking on our neighbors doors (the ones with fences) and asking how long it took to get there approval. Surprisingly, no one we talked to got their approval within the 45 days alotted from the HOA. One person suggested we go to an HOA meeting and that is what we did ~ we were persistent after that with contacting the president of the HOA. He finally gave us our approval a week ago last Friday!!! So the construction began Saturday and was completed by Sunday (just a 2 day process). Josie and Leo will be extremely happy to have a yard to hang out in without being on a leash.

Babies, babies everywhere
Since I've been here I've met 2 newborns (they were born in January) and have been to a baby shower. My friend from Germany, Heather (Mic) live about 40 minutes from me so I was able to visit their little Summer Rae. That's her on the left.
I've been fortunate enough to make a new friend (thanks to my friend Cindy in Germany). Crystal. She also had a little girl in January, Megan. I don't have a picture of her yet.
Lastly, my friend Kim (whom I met in Germany) is now living in Virginia Beach and is due to have a boy in April. I was able to go down to VA Beach for her shower and help Irene out some. I'll have to post pictures later (as I took pictures for Irene, so don't have much on my camera).
The evolution of a home
Our friends Todd, Christine and Nolan came over a couple of weeks ago. Todd and Tim put up the ceiling fans in the bedrooms while Christine, Nolan and me hung out playing Wii and taking the dogs for a walk. We pretty much had nothing in the house at the time of their visit except a couch, tv and mattress. However, after they left we got a knock on the door ~ it was a North Carolina company selling furniture. They had the the desk that I wanted and a bedroom set that Tim and I both liked ~ so we purchased right off the truck. No delivery fees, no wasting gas driving to different furniture stores, no waiting on the day of the delivery. Does it get any better than that!!! Apparently they only go to new home developments.
How do you like our dining room set?? Just kidding ~ it was what we received in our express shipment. It works until our real dining room arrives.
